The joys and challenges of prison ministry

Saturday, May 18, 3pm-5pm, The Factory

Tom Carr from the 9am congregation at The Factory will be sharing about his work as Volunteers and Programs Coordinator for Prison Fellowship. Come along and hear about the challenges and joys of this ministry. Find out how we can support Tom in prayer or maybe becoming a volunteer either in visiting or writing letters.

Despite the cliché, people do become Christians in prison. There are people who also enter prison as Christians. Most prisoners are willing to talk about matters of faith with someone they perceive to be genuine. For Christians exiting prison, life on the outside can be very difficult. It is often hard to find an accepting church as well as employment and accommodation. Often ex-prisoners are estranged from their families and have lost touch with friends. In Matthew 25, Jesus specifically mentions caring for prisoners as an act of service to Himself.

This event would be a great event to invite your non-church friends and family. Hearing about God’s mercy, prisoners responding positively to the gospel, and Christians showing genuine care in this space would be great for people who have not yet come into a relationship with God through Jesus.
