Join us on Monday nights as Stephen Liggins presents five seminars on Christian Ethics to help you develop a framework to manage the sometimes challenging terrain which surrounds us.

Learn some principles for Christian ethics and spend time applying to some practical examples. The seminars will be streamed live to YouTube at 7.30pm, with time for further discussion on Zoom at the conclusion of the seminar.

Stephen has lectured on Christian Ethics at Sydney Missionary and Bible College, and in Africa, and drafted the Moore College PTC Course in Christian Ethics.

Course outline:

Week 1 – Introduction to Ethics
Monday 16 August

Topics covered: Ethics and morality, the importance of ethics, different types of ethical study, ethical theories

Week 2 – Using the Bible in Ethics
Monday 23 August

Topics covered: Different bases for ethics, using the Bible for normative Christian ethics (including: how to use the Old Testament today)

Week 3 – The ‘Mutual Love’ Approach to Christian Ethics
Monday 30 August

Topics covered: The unity of Christian ethics, the mutual love ethic, the usefulness of the mutual love ethic

Weeks 4 & 5 – Application
Monday 6 & 13 September

The final two seminars will apply the principles from weeks 1–3 to some practical examples including: work, marriage, slavery, the environment, making disciples.
